| Autumn Term 2009 |
|
Autumn Term 2009 (18.12.09) Weather permitting we hope to see you at church in the morning. May I thank those parents who helped with the assembly and indeed all of you that came along. The children really enjoyed it. May I also say thanks to the children for doing such a great job and having to put up with a grumpy teacher with a bit of cold!!! You were brilliant.
(16.12.09) Please make sure your children collect all their belongings from the cloakroom by Friday.
(16.12.09) TOMORROW Right...we have an assembly tomorrow that is a little bit different! Most important is for the children to read their lines LOUDLY!!!!!!!!! It makes all the difference!! Remind them on the way to school for your sake! You're the ones with the cheap tickets at the back after all! Seriously, they should be fine. They must all bring black or dark clothing and other relevant costumes and props. Tomorrow is also the Xmas party (no sticky drinks please!!) and children can come to school in mufti. If any parent can come to school earlier at 8.30a.m with their child that would be great because it will be all hands on deck once the children arrive and I would appreciate help. Children must also come armed with sensitivity and warm hearts to help ease my cold!! Bah Humbug!!
(16.12.09) I will try my best to hear most of the poetry recitals this term. I apologise in advance if some have to wait until then. One thing's for sure - they're all brilliant and worth the wait and I would prefer not to rush them. Time will be spent in the first week back presenting certificates and encouraging the children to study each other's projects.
(15.12.09) Please remind the children to learn their lines and bring in costumes and props for tomorrow's rehearsal of the class assembly.
This will be Thursday afternoon so please feel free to bring some nibbles and drinks.
(14.12.09) Dear Freya, I promise to find time to finish off your giraffe models soon. Best wishes! Mr. W
(13.12.09) Class Assembly - Many children have been asked to learn lines and do some research over this weekend in time for this week's assembly. Please remind them if appropriate. I have also asked all the children to find black clothing for the assembly.
(12.12.09) Passions - Both Evie's presented their 'passions' recently. Both were of a very high standard. I hope to have all photos up on the 'Passions' page by the end of the year. Here are two for now.
Evie R's violin presentation was truly amazing. She is so talented! Well done Evie!!
Evie A's swimming session was very well organised with the help of our swimming coach. She managed the session with great calmness and maturity. Well done Evie!!
(10.12.09) Only 6 projects were handed in today. Please bring them in tomorrow!!! The projects so far have been magnificent to say the least. Well done guys! (12.12.09) More were handed in on Friday thanks. We will try our best to present these very soon. The end of term is amazingly busy!!!
(8.12.09) Can any parents help with art projects at the school over the next week? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
(8.12.09) Yesterday your child was given their spelling and times-table test results from last week. Children should practise words that were spelt incorrectly in time for a final assessment on Monday of next week. Words tested will be those stated in the project letter, including a random selection of words ending with -ed and -ing. In the New Year these words will be tested one more time.
(7.12.09) Cinderella permission forms with any donations towards the cost need to handed in tomorrow in time for Year 5's trip to Jackson Lane.
Christmas is coming and we're getting VERY busy!!!
There will be no rest bite that's for sure with our class assembly and the Christmas Service on the last two days of term.
Thursday 17th December - Class Assembly 9.05 a.m Friday 18th December - Christmas Service 9.30 a.m (St. Michael's Church) Half of Picasso involved. Please keep a look out on this website as I might ask for parents to come in to help with one or two activities.
(6.12.09) Maths Homework - There was no maths homework this weekend. This was to allow children time to finish off their poetry projects. Indeed, there will be no more homework now until the new term.
(3.12.09) Poetry Projects - Just realised the mix up in deadline dates re the poetry projects. If any children could bring in finished projects before Thursday that would be great. All projects should in by Thursday however as we will be having a special poetry recital and presentation session. Sorry for any confusion!! I'm really looking forward to seeing these projects as I know that Picasso is full of extremely talented poets.
(3.12.09) Much fun was had at the Globe Theatre today. More photos to follow.
(2.12.09) Want to play Countdown? Click here.
(1.12.09) Ben's Passion - Thanks Ben for a fantastic passion. The class had lots of fun! Well done!
(1.12.09) Looks like we might be able to fund the transport costs for the Globe Theatre from money leftover from Year 4! Watch this space!
(30.11.09) Please click here for guidance sheets on mental and written calculations in maths. Very useful for progression and methods.
(30.11.09) The children were tested on synonyms for 'walk' to day and their 6 x tables. Copies can be downloaded right. The test also looked at adding -ing and -ed. This test will be carried out again just before the end of term along with a random test that tests children's understanding of adding -ing and -ed to verbs.
(29.11.09) No updates for a while as last week was incredibly busy. So here goes... Globe Theatre: I have sent an urgent email to class reps (Adam B) regarding the trip on Thursday. Please could you email me back asap re any suggestions? Weekly timetable: This week's intended timetable can be downloaded (see right). Please be aware that the timetable will be heavily disrupted over the next few weeks due to numerous Christmas events. Maths Homework: Unfortunately the maths homework sheet on symmetry is unavailable to download this week due to its design and format. Copies can be collected from class if they are lost! I am still waiting for some children's work on 'Weighing' from last week!! Passions: Anyway we are behind with 'Passions' at the moment. Ben mentioned he wanted to do his on Monday. Unfortunately an announcement to remind children to bring in skateboards etc was not made so we will do this Tuesday afternoon if that's ok with Ben. This will allow children time to bring in their skateboards. Protective headgear is a must. If children do have the equipment we will share and provide additional activities. If Freya would like to bring in her paints for WB 7.12.09 I will organise time for the children to paint their giraffes!!! Tests: There will be a spelling test (synonyms for 'walk') and a x 6 times-table test tomorrow. Maths Club: This week we will start looking at fractions and there are plenty of fun games to play in the Maths Club for all abilities. Promises! : I promised I would send out copies of maths tests. I'll do my best to get these out this week. Help!: Any parents available WB 7.12.09 to help with painting projects in the afternoon? Please let me know. Christmas Service: Many children in Year 5 will be heavily involved in the Christmas Service at St. Michael's Church on December 18th. Children not involved this time will be chosen to take part in the Easter Service. Class Assembly: Don't forget to come on Thursday 17th December (9.05 - 9.30 a.m). If you can help in anyway over the next two weeks in class please do! I've got lots of ideas brewing!!
(22.11.09) Miscellaneous - (1) Please find attached a copy of this week's intended time-table.(2) Work covered in Numeracy this week can be found in Maths Club. (3) Please find attached right an important letter regarding the trip to the Globe Theatre next week. This can be downloaded now and handed into school tomorrow or by Wednesday.
(20.11.09) Freya's passion was terrific. Look for more photos through the link left. Photos from Anna's and Lui's presentations will be included soon after I get over some technical difficulties!!
(20.11.09) Please find attached right a copy of this week's maths homework on weighing. Thank you Freya! Your 'Passion' presentation was super. Everyone had a great time. Photos to follow. A letter regarding the trip to the Globe Theatre will be available to download on this website on Sunday. Alternatively your child will receive a copy on Monday. The cost of the trip is £8.00.
(19.11.09) Miscellaneous Don't forget to send your children in looking smart for their photos tomorrow. I hope the parent consultation evening WAS useful for you. Please feel free to speak to me regularly about your child's progress. Tomorrow we look forward to Freya's passion which sounds like great fun. Photos of Anna's and Lui's passions on this site asap. There has been a series of paperwork sent out recently that needs to be returned asap. Please help by sending these to me sooner rather than later. Tomorrow we also look forward to some tasty treats at the Picasso Class cake sale. Thanks to all parents who spend so much of their time preparing and organising this for our benefit. I will be sending out the children's spelling tests for the spelling pattern -ough tomorrow. These words will be tested again at the end of term. A copy of the test can be downloaded (see right). Apologies for not providing a copy of the measuring homework to download. It was a sheet with technical difficulties!!
(15.11.09) Misc: (1) Please find attached right this week's intended class timetable. (2) Still waiting for some children's 'Frequency Data' homework. (3) A copy of this week's maths' homework on measuring will be on this site asap. (4) More maths games can be found to support the maths taught this week in the Maths Club.
(15.11.09) We are looking at instructional texts this week. This link is useful for supporting children's understanding.
GAME OF THE WEEK WB 9.11.09 This week the class are learning about how we can use adverbs to change the structure of a sentence. To practise identifying adverbs play this fun Battleships Game this week.
(12.11.09) Been practising those -ough words? Hope this helps! Click here. This poem will help with pronunciation too. Tests in spelling and times-tables tomorrow/Monday. The half-term spelling assessment was sent home with most of the children today. The test concentrated on 46 words either nouns ending with -f or synonyms for 'beautiful'.
(11.11.09) (1) Parents who missed out on attending the Tate Modern will be given first choice when we (2) There will be a spelling and times-table test very soon - either Friday or Monday. Spelling will focus on words with the -ough pattern. (3) Can I remind parents to sign up for the parent consultation evenings next week? (4) This week's been a bit hectic so I haven't had the chance to look at projects so far. Please ask your children to bring them in tomorrow. (5) I am still waiting for some children's Frequency Data maths' homeworks. (6) Unfortunately - for various reasons beyond my control - 'Passion' presentations have been few and far between of late. Howeverm, I would like to stress the importance of being prepared for these so the standard is set as high as possible without placing unnecessary stress on the child or parent. The hour is simply 10 or 15 minutes of presenting their passion in any form they wish. Most of the session should be taken up by an activity in which the children have fun and learn from their experience. The next presentation due is Freya's next week. I will be sending out dates for rearranged presentations soon. Please make sure you are aware of when it is your turn by studying the 'Passion' timetable (see right). Many thanks. MW.
(10.11.09) Great at the Tate! We had a fantastic time at the Tate Modern today. The children really enjoyed 'How It Is' by Polish artist Miroslaw Balka. It is 'a giant grey steel structure with a vast dark chamber, which in construction reflects the surrounding architecture - almost as if the interior space of the Turbine Hall has been turned inside out. Hovering somewhere between sculpture and architecture, on 2 metre stilts, it stands 13 metres high and 30 metres long. Visitors can walk underneath it, listening to the echoing sound of footsteps on steel, or enter via a ramp into a pitch black interior, creating a sense of unease.' They also spent searched for evidence of Picasso and other artists on Levels 3 and 5 using a question and answer investigation sheet. It was a real challenge but they all did marvellously well. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Picasso Class for their excellent attitude and behaviour throughout the trip. Well done!! Thanks to all the parents who came along too. Your enthusiasm and energy certainly rubbed off on the children!!
Outside the Tate Modern having fun! Inside Balka's box of darkness!! Dark in here isn't it? Well...at least until Mr. W took this flash photo!!
(9.11.09) Tate Modern - Parent helpers are asked to meet Mr. Whiting and Linda French in the top playground at 10a.m. tomorrow morning. You will be given a copy of group lists and other important information for the day. Thank you for offering to help. It should be a great day out! NB: Please ensure your children wear suitable clothes including a waterproof jacket. The forecast suggests that there is a bit of rain around tomorrow. I have also asked the children to bring a rucksack to pack their lunch, spending money, and a clipboard (provided by me!). This is to ensure the children have their hands free, items are kept dry, and bags are attached to them for safety.
(8.11.09) Please find attached right a rough time-table of the week ahead. Children are reminded to bring their poetry project (so far!) into school for discussion. Please find new games in the Maths Club to support this week's objectives. Please note change of return time and spending money allowance below for the Tate Modern visit on Tuesday.
(5.11.09) Tate Modern Dear Parent/Carer,
We will be visiting the Tate Modern next Tuesday 10th November to explore artistic styles, particularly work by Picasso and artists who have been influenced by his work. The children will be out of school from approximately 10.00 a.m to 3.00 p.m.
The following adults are asked to meet the children and myself in the top playground at 10.00 a.m. Every adult will be responsible for 4 or 5 children throughout the whole day. We are travelling by tube. The parent of: Evie R, Louis, Edward, Jack, Fay, Ilyas, Harry. Please confirm you are able to attend. Other parents who offered to help are now not required. Thank you for your offer! I apologise if I may have stated that you were needed in passing. More parents have come forward than I thought! All children should bring a packed lunch including a drink and be dressed suitably for the day. We will be spending some time outside. They can also bring up to £3 spending money (no more!). Parents should bring lunch too! If you have any queries or concerns regarding the trip, please speak to me. Please also check the web site for any further information.
Regards
Mr. M Whiting
(5.11.09) Passions - Unfortunately Eve and Ilyas' passion presentation have had to be postponed until a future date. The next presentation will be Lui's next week.
(3.11.09) There is no swimming tomorrow. Watch this space for an update on when it recommences! Spellings - A final test on the spellings of synonyms for 'beautiful' and nouns ending with -f will be held this Friday.
(1.11.09) Miscellaneous (1) All parents that offered to help with the trip to the Tate Modern next week are needed subject to List 99 checks. Details regarding this trip will be out later this week. Please ensure you are available from 10 a.m to approx 3 p.m next Tuesday 10th November. (2) Please find attached right a copy of this half-term's project sheet on the subject of 'Poets'. A copy will also be handed to the children tomorrow. A copy of this week's rough time-table can also be downloaded.
(23.10.09) Thank you for all the wonderful 'Artists since 1800' projects. The standard of the artwork produced was amazing and I hope to make a display of these in class in time for the parent meetings after half-term. Certificates will now have to be handed out at the beginning of next half-term as I am still waiting for one or two projects! The next half-term project is called 'Poets'. Children will be asked to choose a poet to research and then mimic with poetry of their own. So if you want to get a head start over half-term find a poet you would like to study. The project sheet for this project will be available to download from this site soon. This sheet will also include spelling and vocabulary work for the half-term. NB: More photos of Anna's passion presentation will be on this site soon.
(21.10.09) Miscellaneous (1) A copy of the letter sent out today regarding the trip to the Tate Modern can be found attached right. These MUST be returned by tomorrow please. (2) Children have also taken home this week their spelling test results for synonyms for the word 'beautiful'. Please ask your child for their sheet and practise only those words that they practised but spelt incorrectly in the test. I have also provided a score for other words that the children attempted to spell and the practise at home of these is optional. I have decided to assess the children once again on these words plus the nouns ending with -f immediately after half-term to allow time to practise further. (3) If your child still hasn't handed in their project, it is needed urgently thanks.
(19.10.09) Anna's Passion Presentation - Find out more about Anna's Passion Presentation soon. The class learnt about storyboarding and began work on a Sylvanian Families comic strip. See Ellie's example below.
(18.10.09) New attachments today include (1) This week's intended time-table (2) a copy of Friday's 8 x tables test and (3) more games can be found in Maths Club. Please ensure all art projects are handed in by tomorrow. Thanks. I am still awaiting some ICT acceptable use policy forms from some children. These are needed urgently. If you did not receive a copy or it is lost, a downloadable copy can be found here. Thanks.
(18.10.09) Picasso Class School Trips A couple of dates for your diary regarding school trips. Tuesday 10th November - Picasso Class visit the Tate Modern. Thursday 3rd December - Both Year 5 classes to visit the Globe Theatre. Parent help needed for both trips. Letter regarding the Tate Modern out this week.
(15.10.09) Miscellaneous 1. Spelling (synonyms for 'beautiful') and 8 times-table test tomorrow. The last times-table test was handed out today. 2. Picasso Class will join the rest of the juniors at Highgate School tomorrow for a special session with Children's Laureate (2007-2009) poet and author Michael Rosen. I know for sure that this will be an event to remember. Michael is extremely talented and very funny. 11.00a.m - 12.00 a.m.
3. As we are with Michael Rosen tomorrow, Anna's passion presentation has now been postponed until Monday 19th October. 4. Still waiting for help regarding the art project for the class assembly! 5. Please find the next maths' homework sheet to be handed out tomorrow attached right.
Old Shoes - New Ideas!
Why old shoes? I have a creative writing task coming up soon that use shoes as a stimulus.
(12.10.09) Projects must be brought in this Friday at the very latest thanks.
(11.10.09) This week's intended time-table can now be downloaded (see right). I missed out the spelling test on synonyms for 'beautiful'. Maybe Thursday or Friday? Look out for more fun maths links (see left) to reinforce ideas and skills being taught this half-term.
(10.10.09) Adam's Passion Presentation Yesterday we were treated to the first 'Passion' of the year from Adam. Adam definitely achieved his target of ensuring his presentation had teamwork, learning, and fun!! Well done to him!! Look out for more photos on the 'Passion Presentations' page. (see link left) (9.10.09) Please find attached right a copy of today's 9 x times-table test.
(8.10.09) We've been a little busy to say the least. Spelling test results (nouns ending with -f/-ves) will definitely be with you tomorrow. As far as the synonyms for 'beautiful' are concerned, I will be testing the children on 20 synonyms and will be asking them to highlight 10 they researched themselves. The same 20 will be tested a week later. Time should be spent after the test on learning mis-spelt words. The other 10 words can also be learnt but this is OPTIONAL!!! The most important thing is that they learn 10 new words. Well done Year 5 for a brilliant harvest assembly presentation. I think that Mr. Ross' chocolate machine and the 'Eyebrows commercial' went down particularly well. MW Please find attached (right) the next maths homework on positive and negative numbers. This will also be handed out to the children tomorrow.
(6.10.09) A copy of the spelling test carried out today has been attached. The children will receive their marked tests tomorrow. The same test will be given out just before half-term so please spend time working on words spelt incorrectly. Children should also be practising words that are synonyms for the word 'beautiful' which will be tested on about the 15th October. All the children are taking part in a 5 min advertising campaign for fair trade chocolate during this Thursday's harvest assembly. Most have just one line to say but some have more. Please check with your child what they are doing beforehand. All are welcome to the assembly regardless! (5.10.09) There are definitely gremlins in the works! The sentence sheets I attached earlier this term were somehow those from a previous year. I have attached new sheets (see right) with minor alterations. I stress that these are not compulsory homework but advice on what children may practise at home. Picasso Class have also been practising the art of short sentence writing for dramatic effect. e.g. Jenny screamed. The creature drew near. The time had come.
(5.10.09) A thousand apologies! I managed to attach the incorrect 'Passion' time-table for this term. You are now able to download the correct one with Adam's presentation starting things off this week - see right! Please also note that this week's 'Currency' maths homework should read: $35.52 divided by 1.59 = £22.33 on the second page. Oops!!! (4.10.09) More maths links can be found in the Maths Club (left).
(4.10.09) Miscellaneous: Please find a copy of this week's intended time-table (see file right). Please note that Year 5 will be taking part in this Thursday's Harvest festival in the junior hall. We are beginning the 'Passion Presentations' this Friday. Thank you Adam for being brave enough to go first! NB: Our first class assembly is Thursday 17th December and not in October as you may have read elsewhere. It's a long time to wait but at least it's near Xmas! A few children have said that they have a parent who would be available to help with a special art project for our class assembly in December. If this is you - could you please come to see me this week at the latest? I need to get the ball rolling asap. Children should bring in their projects to show the class their efforts and ideas this week.
(29.9.09) Passion Presentations - Please find attached (see right) the time-table and info for this term's 'Passion' presentations. There will be 10 presentations each term. Also included are details on who will present their presentations in the Spring and Summer terms.
(29.9.09) Swimming - This starts tomorrow. Children should remember to bring in the following: Boys: Trunks/speedos or swimming shorts (Hip Racers) - not knee length shorts please. A swimming cap and towel are essential. Goggles can also be brought if necessary although children will be encouraged to remove them asap if appropriate. Girls : A one-piece swim suit (no bikinis), swimming cap, and towel. Goggles if necessary. Children may also wish to bring a comb or brush.
(28.9.09) Maths Homework - Can I just clarify something about this week's times-table maths homework? Most effort must be placed into the times-table element of the poster. One or two posters handed in already have had very little times-table facts. They are dominated by Picasso pictures! These pictures should be added to decorate the poster and not be the main feature of it!! Please also avoid printing out pictures from the internet and sticking them to the poster. Simple Picasso heads or small drawings of his style or a segment of one of his paintings would be better drawn and then coloured. These should either act as a border or be placed to the side of the poster to make it more attractive. A great way of decorating the poster can be found on the 'Mr Picassohead' website. Please also remember that the poster should be read easily from 2 metres away.
(27.9.09) Please see below a list of the 'Passions' children have put forward so far. Please let me know if any are incorrect by tomorrow please. NB: Celia and Louis are yet to inform me of their passions. Children with the same 'passions' should communicate with one another so that we have two completely different presentations. Passions

(27.9.09) Miscellaneous All are welcome to the St. Michael's Day church service on Tuesday at 9.30a.m. Is there a parent available who can help escort the children to church? Please contact Mr. W tomorrow if you can. Are you a parent with an 'arty' background that can help Picasso Class with a project which I have in mind for our class assembly later this term? If you can spare some time each week I would really appreciate it. Lunchtime would be great - or with a couple of children who can work on the project during morning sessions. Thanks Mr. W Swimming starts this Wednesday so don't forget your swimming gear!! This week's intended time-table can now be downloaded (see right). Dear Picasso Class: Look out on this web-site soon for links to great maths websites that help obtain Year 5 objectives. In the meantime have fun playing lots of great multiplication games on www.multiplication.com especially if you find learning times-tables difficult.
(27.9.09) Sentence Sheets and Other Useful Resources Sentence structure development is crucial this year and it is important that children have a range of types in their sentence tool kit. They will be learning about the importance of sentence rhythm and a sentence's ability to create effect (e.g. for dramatic purposes). It is highly recommended that children practise the sentence types on the sheets provided (see right) by applying them to their homework to reinforce what is being taught in class. Start with sheet 1 (this half-term), then sheet 2 (2nd half-term) and sheet 3 throughout the Spring term. If the children apply variety in their constructions, it will also benefit the regularity and consistency of their punctuation. Hope this helps! Also attached is REALLY useful advice on how to write a great story. Although the story of Little Red Riding Hood is a traditional one it has all the ingredients of what makes a good modern day short story. The children will be applying the ideas in their own version of Little Red this term as well as writing their own story or two! If you don't understand some of the terms used - don't worry - the children will before long!
(24.9.09) Please find attached right a copy of the 2nd maths homework task sheet which will be handed out to the children tomorrow.
(24.9.09) Apologies - the 'Artists since 1800' homework file to the right includes some extra pages left over from last year. Please ignore these and just focus on page 1.
(23.9.09) Please discuss with your child which 'Passion' is best for them. I asked the children to write down their 'Passions' and many seem a million miles away from the ideas parents have told me in passing!!! e.g. one parent told me her child adores karate but the child has informed me he or she likes horses! (Not true but you get the idea!!) Sometimes children provide ideas that they think their teacher or peers want to hear. Most importantly it should make them smile and take up much of their thought process and time in and out of school. NB: Some children have yet to bring in their maths' homework.
(22.9.09) Swimming will now begin next week for Picasso Class and will be fortnightly thereafter like last year. Magritte Class will start this week. With an hour booked each week at Mallinson's, we have decided to take one class per week, allowing maximum opportunity for the children to swim and development in the space available at the centre. The hour will be broken into two 30 mins sessions of 15 children. NB: This is a trial arrangement and we will reassess this in a few weeks time. The journey to the Tate Modern has been rescheduled for November as the original date clashed with our St. Michael's Day service which is now being held at St. Michael's Church. We have pencilled in November 10th (TBC).
(20.9.09) Miscellaneous (1) Class reps are welcome to arrange a chat this week. Please come asap. (2) I will be providing a rough time-table of the week ahead each week. Please see this week in the column right. (3) Swimming has been changed to Wednesday a.m now. We should be attending this Wednesday but I will let you know for sure tomorrow. (4) Please make sure your child attends school tomorrow with their chosen passion. To see examples of last year's passions click here. Passions should be hobbies or interests that are unique to your child. Please have a back-up idea just in case another child chooses the same idea. (5) Don't forget to hand in maths' homework by Wednesday. A copy is attached just in case you didn't get one or lost it! (See right) (6) We will be discussing homework projects every Monday. Children are welcome to bring in their work so far to discuss and share ideas. (See copy of homework sheet right) (7) Photos of some of the children's brilliant Picasso work will be displayed on this website soon.
(19.9.09) Picasso Class have been studying Cubism recently. Using modern technology to explore Picasso's cubist interpretation of the human face! Guess who!?
(16.9.09) Spellings - Children have been provided with two activities regarding spelling. One of which is the study of nouns that end with f and the other is the research of synonyms for the word 'beautiful'. Children should spend the first couple of weeks of term learning the nouns. They will then be tested on a random date. Then time should be spent researching and spelling 10 synonyms for 'beautiful'. These will then be tested. About a week later there will be a final half-term spelling assessment incorporating all of these terms words. Time in this week should be spent learning words that were maybe spelt incorrectly before. Those times-tables stated on the left of the homework sheet should be learnt during the period stated at home. If your child has already mastered these tables, we recommend practising the types of questions provided on the sample test sheet which you were furnished with in the recent parent meeting.
(15.9.09) Cubism art lesson - Please don't forget to bring in materials and objects for tomorrow's art lesson.
(14.9.09) Swimming will begin week commencing 21st September and is likely to have a change in usual time and date. Watch this space. Spelling and homework - If your wondering how the children should be going about their spellings, there will be a more detailed summary of requirements on here soon as well as further details about the homework project. Tate Modern - I have pencilled in Tuesday 29th September for a trip to the Tate Modern for a look at some of Picasso's work. Watch out for a letter regarding this soon. Parent help will be needed.
Picasso Art Lesson Letter (14.9.09) A letter will be handed out today regarding items I would like the children to bring in on Wednesday. Just in case they lose the letter on the way home, I have attached a copy here. We will also be handing out a copy of this half-term's project letter titled 'Artists since 1800'.
(10.9.09) Hello and welcome to Picasso Class! Yes the website is back and I hope it will prove as popular as last year! Keep up to date with all things in Picasso Class here! I recommend that you check this page at least a couple of times a week as important information will be added frequently. More details to follow.

(14.12.09) Christmas Party

(6.12.09) As usual the weeks leading up to Christmas are filled with all sorts of Christmasy events and activities that have filled up the timetable somewhat. For this reason there won't be a weekly timetable available for you now until we get back to normal again in the New Year.

Do you have any old shoes or boots that you don't need anymore? Ideally I only want one of the pair - but if you would like to get rid of the pair - I am happy to have them. I don't just want children's old shoes. Send me toddlers, ladies, gents, etc - all types!
