Fiona Robin Sam Class reps: Julie, Candice & Christine. Welcome to Klee Class! Our classes this year are named after famous artists. Our class is called Klee class and we have been finding out more about him. Much of his work uses lines, Shapes or bright colours.
For numeracy and literacy we will be following the Primary Framework. Further links and other information about this year including: term objectives in all areas of the curriculum and newsletters from the teachers can be found under the Plans and Letters section of the Year 1 front page. SpellingsSpellings are usually given out on a Friday day by the Ruth Miskin Litearcy (RML) group leaders. Spelling tests could take place any day from Monday to Thursday morning. When writing weekly spellings ➢ LETTERS should aim to be Children should aim to spell the words on the High Frequency List correctly. A printable version of this can be found in the Homework section of the year 1 front page. Maths homeworkThis is usually given out on a Friday and should be returned on Monday. Certificates will no longer be awarded for returned homework. The homework would normally cover the planned maths topic for the following week. Reading booksReading scheme books are usually exchanged on Friday and should be returned the following Thursday. Children are normally given the opportunity to change their self chosen books on a daily basis [on return of previous loans]. No book bag, no books! Speaking & ListeningSpeaking & listening is usually on Fridays (no toys allowed) please add a note if you think your child might need prompting.
Our topics for the summer term include Materials & Forces, The changing face of seaside holidays in the British Isles from the 1900s to the present and Toys past & present, The Quran and Jesus’ Friends and his Teaching. We aim to use our topics within most of the areas of the curriculum this term including Materials & Forces (art, maths, literacy, science, DT, ICT & humanities), The Quran and Jesus’ Friends and his Teaching (RE, science & art), The changing face of seaside holidays in the British Isles from the 1900s to the present and Toys past & present (art, literacy, ICT & humanities). |
