5W Summer Term Passion Presentations (2008-2009) Because every child matters! Christos - The cello
Christos wowed us with a musical extravaganza! We have in our midst a very talented musician! I wouldn't be surprised to see him playing at the Royal Albert Hall in 20 years time! It was magical Christos! Well done! Frankie - Pandas
Frankie informed us about the plight of Pandas. There are only 1600 pandas left in the world because of the human destruction of their habitat. After an informative quiz, Frankie organised the children into groups and asked them to put together a TV style advertisement which highlighted the plight of the panda. It was great fun and James, Ben, Hugo, and Millie came out on top! Well done Frankie! Max S - Hamsters Max brought in his pet hamster and provided the class with a very entertaining quiz. Thanks for the sweets!! Unfortunately some of the photos have gone missing including pictures of the hamster! Never mind I'll put more of Max at least on here soon. (18.7.09) Well Max! Sorry but your other photos went missing. I was going to take a few more before the end of term but you left early for your holiday. If you would like me to add more please come and see me when you come back in September. Mahnoor - Chemistry
Mahnoor's chemistry presentation certainly went down well with the children as she demonstrated what happens to the colour of water when red cabbage is added with bleach! Mr. Whiting was relieved to find out that none of the experiments were explosive!!! Well done Mahnoor! James - Golf A great highlight was James' surprise trip to Highgate Golf Course. The whole of Class 5W spent the morning on the driving range and on the putting green practising their swing. James demonstrated a great talent for his passion as you can see from his swing in the photos below. 5W and Mr. Whiting would like to thank James and his parents for organising such a wonderful experience for us all.
Lucia - The Piano
Lucia wooed us with her marvellous piano playing skills. It is obvious that all of her hard work is paying off and she is becoming more and more accomplished each day. She presented a beautifully prepared Powerpoint slideshow before asking the children to take part in a 'Name That Tune!' competition. She played the theme from 'Top Cat' with great confidence and skill. Before long children were asked to accompany her on a range of percussion instruments and the whole room was awash with noise! Well done Lucia! You have a marvellous talent. Keep it up!
Finlay - Diabolo
Finlay created a mini-circus with a brilliantly organised session on diabolo and other forms of juggling. The children had lots of fun practising a range of skills. Of course, there was no beating Finlay though who organised a competition for the best diabolo and ball juggler, as well as devil sticks brought in by Beatrix. Here we see Finlay with helpers and winners. Well done Finlay! Ben - Gardening
Green-fingered Ben organised a great session for the children. After speaking about his passion for gardening and the history of allotments, he led a team to the school garden to plant vegetables and flowers. Ben certainly knew his stuff and his enthusiasm for gardening certainly rubbed off on the children. Well done Ben and thanks for the courgettes! They were delicious in a chicken, potato and courgette bake! Yummy!
Michael - Tennis
Michael is an excellent tennis player and is developing an outstanding reputation at a mere 10 years of age! Everyone had fun playing a range of mini tennis games expertly managed by Michael and his team of helpers. Look out for Michael at Wimbledon in 10 years time!!!!
Beatrix - Dolphins
Beatrix presented a brilliant slideshow on her love of dolphins and we discovered some interesting facts about them. Did you know that a dolphin has a similar sized brian to a human?? After her presentation Beatrix introduced a fun game that involved blowing a paper dolphin through a hoop and Finlay won the competition. He has yet to collect his prize!! Well done Beatrix!!!
