5W Spring Term Passion Presentations (2008-2009)
Because every child matters! Sam - The Guinness Book Of Records
Sam presented a brilliant project on his passion for the Guinness Book of Records. The Powerpoint presentation was particularly impressive and the quiz that followed very imagainative and entertaining.
Copies of Sam's slides! This is a picture of the longest scarf!
The longest human torch!
And....most amusingly and Mr. Whiting's personal favourite, the most people dressed up as mobile phones record!!
See 5W's attempt at breaking the world record for the 100metres hop on this site soon.
Well done Sam!
Eleanor W - Gymnastics
She is aiming to take part in the 2016 Olympic Games so watch out for her in 7 years time!!! Eleanor planned a lesson in which everyone in 5W had a go at a variety of activities. (See below) At the end she presented a short Powerpoint presentation which included a talk about her favourite gymnast of all time - Nadia Comaneci - the first gymnast ever to score a perfect 10 in the Olympic Games.
Hugo - The British Army
A truly fascinating presentation by Hugo. He knows his stuff that's for sure! The children adored this passion as Hugo carried out a military drill that was great fun and reminded the children of the importance of discipline. It was based on the game 'Simon Says'. Great idea Hugo! Hugo used a Powerpoint presentation to provide us with a brief history of the British Army over the last hundred years or so. He also brought in a small collection of military hats to show and for some to wear! Hugo! I could have listened to you all day! Well done!
'Left flank....... ATTENTION!!!'
The future of our country is in the hands of these children!! ; ) Georgia - Modern Dance
Everyone adored Georgia's modern dance presentation and workshop. Before dancing, she showed a slideshow and a hilarious video of a couple dancing at their wedding. See it here. Georgia performed a small routine herself before allowing all the children to strut their funky stuff!!
Rosa - Science (Human Body)
A beautiful slideshow of many fascinating facts about the human body was followed by a fun quiz. Rosa wants to be a surgeon when she grows up so if you have to go under the knife in say 30 years time, look out for Dr. Loosemore. She knows her stuff! Well done Rosa! Max F - Karate
Susie - Rollerblading (Kids on wheels!)
Charlie - Rock Music
We had a wonderful time singing and dancing to some of the hot tunes from the last 50 years of music. Charlie presented his passion for music with a great smile and lots of energy. Mr. Whiting really enjoyed going back to his childhood with the ska music of Madness and the surrealism of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen. The pop quiz was brilliant as it contained questions to suit young and old (Mr. W!). Some of the dancing was terrific, especially from our dance duet Georgia and Eleanor W, whilst Matthew brought his usual craziness to proceedings with his now legendary face dancing routine! Well done Charlie! You were sensational! Millie - Football
What a terrific day was had by all. Millie invited Robin of the Arsenal academy to coach a session with all the children of 5W. They certainly learnt a few new tricks. Some of the boys were out to impress but the star of the show was always going to be Millie. As well as the training session Millie showed us the recommended diet of a footballer on a fascinating Powerpoint presentation. She also played a video of her in training with the rest of the Arsenal under 11s girl's team. Well done for an amazing day we will never forget. Well done to all of 5W who took part with great enthusiasm and energy, regardless of their ability!
