These books really help finding areas for development. I tend to ask children to complete section A and B of each page against the clock in the few times I have used them. Whereas Section C is done in their own time. Although the book is intended to be for mental arithmetic, there is nothing wrong with writing down calculations if this helps until the child masters it. Section C is arguably the most useful section because it provides children with the area that is more often than not their achilles heel - word problems and investigations. These books can be bought at Muswell Hill Bookshop, WHSmith, or Amazon.
