With the SATS approaching and the summer here, I am looking forward to a very productive summer term. The first half of term will be quite intensive, with the children concentrating on SATS work and our term topic of THE BRITISH ISLES. The timetable will be slightly revised to accomodate the SATS. Maths SATS will begin on Wednesday 6th May, the following week will be writing SATS, with reading SATS beginning the week of 18th May.

The second half of term we will be consolidating the children's learning, spending a lot of time finding out about the Ancient Greeks and enjoying the beautiful weather. We are currently organising a trip to the support our Ancient Greek project work.

Unfortunately, Isaac has left purple class and will be replaced in the near future by Cosmo, I do hope you will make him feel welcome.

 Autumn Food Project

7th November

Dear Parent/Carers,

Please note that there will be a slight change in the way that homework will be managed for the next half term.  In the infants we only require that your child brings in the homework sheet with your initial to acknowledgement that the work has been done.  If this is done regularly then there won’t be a mad rush at the end.

Work should be compiled in some form – either a booklet or folder so that it will be contained and easy to present to the class.

In year two we are working on the presentation of children’s work. We would therefore encourage you to make sure that the work in neatly presented and written out if writing is involved.

Children should aim to do about 15 minutes of work. We are aware that means some will accomplish more than others, remember, it is not quantity but quality that we are aiming for. This should not be a chore but something that you and your child can enjoy together.

We have arranged the homework to coincide with the work that we will be covering in the class during the term.

Please remember that you should also read with your child on a daily basis – there is room for you to initial that you have heard your child read on the homework form.  Not only should you hear your child read, but it would also be good for them to hear you read to them – this does not have to be their reading book.

Remember this is something that you should all enjoy together – it should not be chore.
